Grow Some Good Internship
My internship was introduce to me by my old teacher in 11th grade, she explain to me since I did my junior project on gardening and caring for plant life, I should intern in something that relates to it.
She got me in touch with the people that ran the internship and helped me get an interview with them. In the interview they asked me what I wanted to learn and get from the internship and asked if I wanted to work outside working with the garden or do paper work. Me being me, I picked going outside to work with my hands, digging and pulling weeds in the garden was what I wanted for my summer. Once I told them what I wanted they set me up to work with someone that ran the garden in Lokelani School and they'll will email me the details and I had to email them the papers I needed them to fill out. After that, all I had to do was meet with my mentor about my internship in person, going over to the Lokelani school garden to get a tour of the place I'll be working and talking about the place, the people that will be around to help and all the good things.

My experience
In my first week of the internship with my mentor at the Lokelani school garden, we talked about the days and time I will be there, like the days that my mentor is available, we picked two days out of the week and from morning to noon. We talked about how my mentor wanted me to come in everyday for just that week to take water in the garden for him since he was going to be away for just one week. So that week I just did the simple things, water, pulled weed, and read a book on taking care of a garden. I just remember there were one day where I was in the garden alone, without my mentor there to direct me, but he did give me clear direct on what to do have the morning, and I did all of that in the sun without really taking a break. Students would come to help in the garden too and I would explain to them what we needed done that day, water all the plants so they get there water of the day, and then we'll clean a bed that has weeds all over them.
What I did in my internship was simple, I've been given a task to do for the week when I am at the garden, which I am there nearly there all morning to noon sometimes, I would always log my hours and write notes on what I did during my time in the garden so I would remember what to write for my report. The experience in the garden and working alone just watering and pulling out unwanted weeds were such peaceful times for me. I enjoyed being alone in the peace of working with the dirt, sometimes I would have students come down to help, but they keep to themselves and I liked that, despite having to be in charge of their behavior and safety in the garden, they were very well behave, didn't have to call any teachers to help me during the times the student of the school was in the garden. Aside from that alone time for just a few weeks of my internship, throughout the month my started to work more with other people, my mentor was their in the garden more to work on making flower beds, weed bigger areas of the garden and pick vegetable that are ready for picking. It was a great time in my internship, my mentor was a great person with lots of things to say about working with gardens and students, he gave me great advice when I told him I was shy about being around students but he told me it won't be that bad, which it wasn't when he introduced me to them, they were great people.

Takeaway
What I enjoyed most about my time doing my internship, was the time I got to be only in the garden. The times were peaceful and relaxing when all you were doing was watering plants all around the garden for an hour, and if I had to weed a pact of grass I would do that. Even if some students would come to the garden to help maintain it, some of the time I was alone, being able to do hard outdoor labor like that sometimes is not something I would want for my summer, but for the school, I had to push through. I'd be able to do anything if people put faith in me and it showed when my mentor let me be in charge of the garden when he was gone for a few days. All I had to do was water, pull weed, and watch for anything wrong in the garden.
